Hateful liberals attack protective parent

A liberal hate group known as the Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled a group of parents who are defending kids a “hate group.”

This preposterous claim is typical of liberals, who often deflect what they are doing.

It is, in fact, the left that is spreading hate and dissension with devices such as “trans rights” and Critical Race Theory.

The law center claims that Moms for Liberty and other groups have “similar rallying cries” to those who opposed school desegregation.

That is total nonsense. Moms for Liberty has led the fight for parental rights by opposing grooming and pornography in government schools and has nothing in common with the Democrats who opposed segregation.

Head of the local Moms for Liberty chapter Becky Nathanson called it another example of the SPLC attacking conservatives.

Nathanson posted recently on Facebook that Moms for Liberty is not “religious zealots who expect the school district to bend to our ‘bigoted’ or doctrinal views. We simply demand compliance with laws and policy and demand transparency.

“If that’s considered extreme, then I’ll continue to shine light on the truth. We are not a vocal minority. We insist that government schools obey the laws and act in the best interest of students and parents.” The Southern Poverty Law Center was founded in 1971 by civil rights lawyers Morris Dees and Joseph J. Levin Jr. In 2019, Dees was fired following accusations of sexual harassment, and that was followed by President Richard Cohen’s resignation

The organization got a lot of ink in the press by opposing the Ku Klux Klan, but over the years it began labeling many mainstream American organizations as “hate groups.”

In the mid-1980s it began attacking conservative organizations and throwing the label of “white supremacist” around at anyone it disliked. By doing so it piled up hundreds of millions of dollars from wealthy liberal donors, especially after the election of Donald Trump as president in 2016.

It now is recognized by most Americans as a Far-Left organization riding on an unearned reputation. It still gets high ratings by the Democrat media, which usually refers to it as a “non-profit organization” as if that was some guarantee of authenticity. In a June 2018 column for The Washington Post, Marc Thiessen asserted that the SPLC had lost its credibility and “become a caricature of itself.”
