Declaring war on parents may have been one of the biggest mistakes liberals ever made.
As a Japanese admiral said after the ill-advised attack on Pearl Harbor, they awakened a sleeping giant.
Millions of Americans already were fed up with the poor education of their children in government schools. They began to worry even more when schools started revising history with Critical Race Theory.
But when the Far Left launched its attempt to groom children into the Cult of Transgenderism and other perverse practices, while pushing pornography upon them, it was too much, especially when the schools began imposing rules that prohibited notifying parents about attempts by troubled children to change their gender.
As the cherry on the whipped cream, parents who protested such programming were labeled “extremists” and, of course, “racists.”
Is it any wonder that groups such as Moms for Liberty and County Citizens Defending Freedom sprang up everywhere and began monitoring schools?
The local Moms for Liberty now has instituted a “parent’s pledge” they ask political candidates to sign. Rebecca Nathanson said the pledge to support parental rights is a national effort. Two school board members and politicians have signed the pledges already.
As a direct result of the blatant disregard for parental rights, the Florida Legislature passed a parental rights bill that immediately was vilified by liberals and attacked by them in lawsuits.
Also, Florida parents retaliated by replacing liberals with conservatives on school boards throughout the state.
Since then, four counties have fired their school superintendents. Duval Superintendent Diana Greene’s contract is set to expire soon unless it is renewed by the board.
And to the consternation of the extremist press in Florida, the legislative clout of parental rights supporters and education reform is increasing. The new Florida House Speaker Paul Renner says, “Parents have the primary role in the raising of their children.”
“It is morally unacceptable that we have, across the country, many kids who can’t read on grade level,” Renner said.
Renner called improving literacy a moral issue and that Florida schools should drop the “extraneous” classroom instruction outside the core basics.
“They spend more time defending drag queen story time than promoting phonics and the science of reading,” Renner said. “In this election, moms and dads sent a clear message to these ideologues: our children are not your social experiment.”
