I was reading a post inside a Facebook group here in Nassau County and came across this post. It was exactly what we needed – a reminder that there are still many good people in this world.
A local woman, Shelby McFarland, was in the Yulee Walmart today with her husband and her 7 week old baby when the sweetest act of kindness came out of nowhere.
Shelby said, “I stood by customer service with the stroller and a cart full of baby items while my husband checked out our little bit of groceries.
While I was standing there a woman walked up and said “that stuff is really expensive isn’t it?”
I laughed and said yes. She handed me a $100 bill and started to walk away. I tried to give it back but she just smiled and kept walking. My husband walked up at this time — shocked and thanked her as well.
You hear about these things happening but then to have it happen to you…. I fought back tears all the way to our car!
To the woman who did this, “I hope you see this and know you have no idea how much that helped us! Truly. We get by but my husband has missed some work lately with health issues (on top of just taking 2 weeks maternity leave we spent months saving for!) We also have an 8 year old heading back to school as well. You absolutely made our day. Wish you had the slightest clue. I get so worried sometimes thinking of what kind of world we are raising our girls in but this just gave me so much hope. We will without a doubt be spreading your kindness forward!”
Eye on my City/Nassau sends a big WINK to this mystery lady who might have just started a wildfire of kindness moving forward in our county.
We appreciate you and we wonder, “Are you an angel or just a really great human being?”
