RIP: Jimmy Buffett heads out for his last Labor Day Weekend Show

Jimmy Buffett passed away Friday, September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. A post announcing his passing on Instagram shocked his followers and sent a sucker punch to all of us.

For those in my age group, his music was the soundtrack of our teenage years that never left us as we aged together with Jimmy into adulthood. His songwriting captured our feelings of freedom that screams to come out of all of us.

No matter your mood, a Jimmy Buffet song could change it in one lyric and you were sent sailing with him or drinking a margarita looking for that lost shaker of salt. Flip

flops, shorts, and a glass in hand was all you needed to get a swig of joy when Jimmy’s music played.

This sucker punch to Parrot heads worldwide will find us all singing his songs for days and we’ll raise a margarita to him as he sets sail for his eternal harbor.

Thanks for the music, Jimmy. We’ll keep on singing and we know you’ll enjoy the best cheeseburger ever in Paradise.

“Come Monday, it’ll be alright”

“Cause legends never die.”
