Sending your kid to college soon? Rethink that!

Many parents will be getting ready to send off their most precious asset to college soon. These parents have done all they can to “raise them up in the way they should go” and now are handing them off to an institution that may have very different views than they do. It’s a scary time for parents to let their children go.

We suggest if they are letting them go to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, they should rethink that.

The state legislature of North Carolina has proposed a unique piece of legislation that would require students to take a course on America’s founding and history. It would also mandate the reading of the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Emancipation Proclamation, at least five essays from the Federalist Papers, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Letter from Birmingham Jail, and the Gettysburg Address.

Wow – how cool is that?

But hold on.

The liberal left woke crowd has publically called this legislation a bad idea!

A letter signed by 673 professors at the University of North Carolina have signed a public letter opposing two pieces of legislation. The first bill, House Bill 96, would require students to take a 3-credit-hour course covering America’s founding and history. The second bill, H.B. 715, would eliminate tenure at UNC and its affiliated campuses, establish minimum class sizes, and require colleges to report “all non-instructional research performed by higher education personnel at the institution.”

The professors argue that both bills are an infringement on the university’s “academic freedom” and violate core principles of academic freedom. They claim that the courses would substitute ideological force-feeding for the intellectual expertise of faculty and constitute little more than indoctrination. (Read that sentence again.)

They also argue that the bills will damage the reputation of UNC and the state of North Carolina and may lead to critical scrutiny from accrediting agencies. House Bill 96 passed through the North Carolina House of Representatives in March and is now being considered by the state Senate.

Now friends you know why your kids leave home as a conservative and come back a raging liberal. When 673 professors tell us they are smarter than the founding fathers, Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln – we are in deep trouble.

Keep your kids out of those “indoctrination camps” aka public universities! Don’t pay them to radically change your precious family members.
